Job Purpose

The Research & Development team is responsible for developing new photochromic ophthalmic lens products.  In order to drive Transitions Innovation strategy, the market insights scientist will support the Innovation Roadmap team in the development of key performance indicators of consumer desirability and competition superiority.


Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Manage the Market Analysis process for Transitions, through identification of competitive threats, sourcing and measuring the performance data of such threats, and creation of reporting mechanisms to keep the business updated on our position versus such competitive threats
  • Interpret Scientific and product data to support Transitions product positioning in the marketplace under key claims, and versus competition
  • Work with the Competition Intelligence team (a cross functional global team) to identify competitive threats, and address them to defend market position for Transitions products
  • Evaluate the datasets for competitor analysis (from both a Scientific Research and Lab performance perspective), assist in design of the data capture system for this activity
  • Provide quantitative analysis of wearer tests in collaboration with the study manager and Global Marketing.
  • Support & train colleagues on best practices for data capture, and visualization of such data for communication purposes
  • Develop processes and training manuals to improve the consumer experience research and data collection
  • Travel is required 20% of the time

Your profile

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree - Science, Engineering or other related fields
  • Relevant experience in research or product development environment
  • Data analysis techniques & systems knowledge - statistical analysis of data 
  • Project work experience in cooperation with cross functional teams, preferably with the international background
  • Innovative and open-minded approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • Transitions product features knowledge, optical business knowledge would be an asset 
  • Experience in consumer studies implementation would be a plus
