Job Purpose

Transitions Optical is looking to appoint a HR manager to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes for its Ireland facilities.

Based in Tuam, Galway, this is a very exciting role for an experienced candidate who is seeking a new challenge. We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual who is highly adaptable and can thrive in a rapidly growing and changing organisation.

The HR Operations Manager oversees the main aspects of the employee cycle, ensures smooth procedures, and supervises the HR department’s daily administrative tasks. The role ensures the HRIS is an effective tool, and that core HR data is maintained accurately for reporting purposes.

The role will support the People Strategy, participating in change initiatives and continuous improvements working to proactively ensure HR adds value. 

The role reports to the Transitions HR Director and will have a strong focus on providing a HR value add service to the business and its employees whilst demonstrating a real business partnering mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  •  Implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy 
  • Support and manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle employees, including joiners, leavers, contract management, leave-management and any disciplinary or other employee issues that may arise as appropriate. 
  • Provide operational and best practice HR advice on all people related queries, ensuring a positive employee relations culture is championed and maintained. 
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process 
  • Partner with the relevant SMEs such as Talent, Compensation to deliver corporate programs locally 
  • Effective policy management to comply with legislation while delivering a positive employee experience  
  • Nurture a positive working environment 
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance 
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program 
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics 
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management 
  • Support on wellbeing and Inclusion & Diversity and sustainability events as required. 
  • Ad hoc support for projects that support the delivery of key priorities 

 

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Honours degree in Human Resources or related discipline e.g. Employment Law, Business, Organisational Development etc. with a post graduate qualification preferable.
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in HR, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a HR management level role.
  • Medical Device Industry preferable
  • CIPD qualification and/or CIPD membership preferred.
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices
