Title:  Financial Analyst

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for interfacing with the Business Units and Finance to analyze financial data in order to measure business performance, particularly sales and profitability, while also identifying improvements to overall business performance.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Month end close – The FA will ensure the accuracy of financial statements for month end close and help identify areas for improvement.  This includes:
•    Prepare standard monthly accruals for accounting
•    Analyze P&L, unit costs, labor, and SG&A 
•    Capital Review/Analysis

Monthly reporting – The FA will develop management reports for the Business Units to use as a tool to monitor and control their department performance. 
•    Develop and maintain a comprehensive but summarized reporting package to monitor the performance each month in all critical areas – sales, gross margin and expenses.
•    Develop customer and product profitability models to measure and project performance.
•    Create variance analyses compared to forecast and budget, while looking at past trends to identify threats and opportunities.
•    Develop a business partner relationship with their Management Team by providing them with the insight to understand sales, margin, expenses, and balance sheet but also by customer and product.
•    Identify and implement ideas to automate and streamline monthly tasks and reporting.

Budget and Forecasting – The FA will assist the Business Units and Finance to produce an annual budget and monthly forecasts.
•    Produce an annual budget with top management, making sure it aligns with short and long-term corporate strategies.  
•    Produce forecast in conjunction with the ELOA annual forecast process.

Special Projects – The FA will support the Finance Manager on special projects.
•    Identify opportunities to increase profitability throughout the organization and initiate projects to achieve improvements in these areas.
•    Work on any assigned projects to produce timely, accurate, and actionable results.
•    Participate in the development & maintenance of systems, especially those providing Business Intelligence.
  
 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience
•    Bachelor of Business Administration – major in accounting, finance, or related field
•    Minimum of 1-2 years of Professional Experience, preferably with focus on financial analysis or accounting and presenting financial data
•    Optical industry experience is a plus
•    Strong business acumen 
•    Excellent computer skills – spreadsheet, database, word processing
•    Self-motivator, eager to learn and grow
•    Team player, must be able to work with people within and outside of finance
•    Adaptable, able to learn the business quickly and adjust as the business needs
•    Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation, effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, in a team environment and with management.
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Tableau experience a plus
•    MBA or CPA a plus
