Essilor of America, Inc. (Essilor), is the leading manufacturer and wholesaler of prescription lenses in the United States.

We currently have a DevOps Manager career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

For 170 years the Essilor Group has served the public by creating the standard of quality in ophthalmic lenses. More recently, through Essilor's ecosystem of web properties, we also serve hundreds of millions of digital consumers.   As the senior manager of our devops organization you will lead the creation of the tools, processes and tool chains that Essilor Digital uses to build, deploy, monitor, and maintain software.  We seek an experienced hands-on manager with strong technical acumen to own our CI/CD pipelines and define our level 2 support strategy. The ideal candidate has strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills and a true passion for engineering. Qualified candidates have created CI/CD pipelines to deploy containerized services and PaaS configuration to the cloud (AWS, Azure, and/or Kubernetes environments).   In addition to the primary responsibility of CI/CD, the manager will develop strategies for and delegate traditional operations activities such as environment monitoring, troubleshooting, and provisioning.   While we currently uses Jenkins and GitHub for CI/CD, we will look to you to define our go forward strategy and help us embrace emerging technology trends.  To summarize, the position is deeply technical and hands on but we will equip you with the resources you need to delegate tasks effectively and execute your DevOps vision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of onshore and offshore resources to provide the Essilor digital level 2 operations strategy.
  • Own the complete DevOps process (source code to release) for all Essilor Digital deployments.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines that deploy to AWS, Kubernetes clusters, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Work closely with development teams to create repeatable deployment topologies.
  • Create deployment artifacts such as Bash or Python scripts, Docker definitions, and Cloud formation templates.
  • Manage private package sources in Nuget including CI/CD pipeline.
  • Create cloud alarms and monitors for environments to proactively respond to issues.
  • Define and delegate routine maintenance on AWS, Google, and Kubernetes environments.
  • Advise and steer Essilor Digital to emerging dev ops best practices.
  • Assist in migrating applications from on premise to cloud.
  • Lead handoff of environments and processes to offshore support.
  • Document DevOps architecture, deployment topologies, and knowledge critical to ongoing maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and own environment and deployment issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate best of breed technology, patterns, and methodologies.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback.

Core Qualifications and Education

  • 10 years of combined software development, cloud operations, and/or cloud operational support experience.
  • 5 years in a hands on role creating deployment scripts for cloud and software deployments.
  • 3 years in a technical management or team lead role.
  • 2 years of operational and/or development experience in the AWS and/or Azure cloud (PaaS and SaaS).
